Botox vs. Xeomin vs. Jeuveau: Understanding Wrinkle Relaxers

An honest, educational comparison of the three most common neuromodulator brands — and which ones SEA Medical Wellness actually offers.

"Botox" has become the generic name people reach for whenever they talk about wrinkle relaxers — much the way "Google" became a verb for searching the internet. That's useful shorthand in casual conversation, but it can create real confusion when you're trying to understand what a specific practice actually offers. Here's a clear breakdown.

Important: what SEA Medical Wellness offers

SEA Medical Wellness currently offers Xeomin® and Jeuveau®. We do not currently administer BOTOX® Cosmetic. This page discusses Botox for educational and comparison purposes only — not as a treatment available at our practice.

The three products, in plain terms

Botox® Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is the original, most widely recognized neuromodulator brand, manufactured by Allergan. It's been FDA-approved for cosmetic use since 2002 and remains the most culturally familiar name in this category.

Xeomin® (incobotulinumtoxinA) is manufactured by Merz. It's sometimes described as a "purer" formulation because it's processed without the accessory proteins found in some other neuromodulators — whether that distinction matters for a given patient is a nuanced, individual question, not a universal rule.

Jeuveau® (prabotulinumtoxinA) is a newer entrant, manufactured by Evolus, and was developed specifically for aesthetic use.

What they share

All three are FDA-approved neuromodulators that work through the same basic mechanism: temporarily relaxing targeted facial muscles to soften the appearance of expression lines. None of them "fix" wrinkles permanently — results are temporary by design, which is part of what makes the category adjustable and low-commitment.

Why the brand name isn't the most important decision

It's easy to fixate on brand names because they're what get talked about publicly, but the more important variables are: who is injecting you, how carefully your treatment plan is customized to your anatomy, and how conservative or aggressive the dosing approach is. A skilled, credentialed injector working conservatively will generally produce a better outcome than an aggressive approach with any single brand.

That's the philosophy behind how Erin Anderle, PA-C — an NCCPA-certified Physician Assistant with AAFE injector training — approaches wrinkle relaxer treatment at SEA Medical Wellness: personalized planning first, product second.

Questions worth asking at a consultation

  • What's your experience level and training with neuromodulators?
  • How do you decide dosing for a new patient?
  • What should I expect for onset time and how long results typically last?
  • What happens if I'm not fully satisfied with the result?
